I took this in Tacoma at Point Defiance Park, for the Spring assignment last year. I was experimenting with different shots with flowers and I like how this one turned out. Although I think it might be a little too close

Megan Cox RHS-
this photo is simple. which makes the subject pop. the background colors compliment the subject colors and they all work really nice together.

I like your overall idea for this picture. The perspective and depth of field make the flower look much bigger than it actually is. I like the focus on the petals of the flower; it came out sharp. It’s great how this contrasts with the blurry background. However, there are a few things I would change. The other flower in the background is distracting and takes away from the main subject. I would suggest experimenting with different angles and perspectives. Also, there are some shadows on the petals which detract from the flower’s strength. Additionally, since the petals are white, it would have popped more on a blue sky or some other non-white background. Finally, I would suggest using the rule of thirds a bit more than you have.

The lighting in this picture is really good. I love the flower and how the trees in the back look out of focus but the grass and flower are in focus. However I do agree with you and think that if you zoomed out a little it would have had a better effect.

The greens, yellows, whites, and blues in the photo go very well together. You said that you think that it is to close, but I think that it looks good.

This is a good photo. From this perspective its like a small animal is looking upward at the flower. I love unique angles. I also like the other flower being there as well as the grass, there are other things in the photo to make it more interesting but there is still a main focus. The only thing I don’t really like is the position of the lighting, the colors lose something with the shade on them.

I think this is a really great picture. I like how the center part of the flower is in focus.
